Hager’s European Vacation 2018 | Exploring Paris

Here is part two of our European Adventure. After exploring London for 2 1/2 days, we took the Eurostar to Paris. The train ride was quick and provided some time for napping. We arrived in Paris just as the sun was setting. We were all so excited and ready to explore the city. We booked an Airbnb in between the 8th & 9th Arrondissement. It was a cute little apartment with room for all of us to sleep and hangout. After dropping off our bags we headed to dinner to see the Eiffel Tower at night. It was a great first evening in Paris.

Paris | European Vacation Day Four

We woke up on our first morning in Paris and it was a beautiful day. The sun was shining and we had a full day of sightseeing planned. We had a delicious Paris breakfast and the baguettes were so amazing. Then onto our first stop of the day, Sainte Chappelle. Wow, the stained glass left us all speechless. It was everywhere and so colorful. The architecture was unbelievable. I could have spent hours in that church looking at all the glass. It was an incredible sight for sure.

After Sainte Chappelle we walked around the neighborhood and ended up at Notre Dame Cathedral. We explored the church and it was overwhelming. There are so many artifacts and history in the church. I am so happy we were able to see Notre Dame before the fire in early 2019. What a devastating loss and we pray one day it will be restored fully. All the kids really loved Notre Dame. We then spent a few hours walking around all the little streets around Ile de la Cite. We ate yummy treats and crepes. It was a great way to feel like we were part of the city. Paris is magical and around every corner is something beautiful.

Our final stop of our full day was the Louvre. We spent two and a half hours exploring the museum. You could spend weeks there and never see it all. The kids really enjoyed the museum and seeing art they had learned about in school. The museum wasn’t very busy which was so nice.

Paris | European Vacation Day Five

There was some complaining, but I got everyone up and to the Eiffel Tower for sunrise. It was absolutely freezing but so worth it. We watched the sun come up behind the Eiffel Tower from the Trocadero. This is the perfect spot to take photos of the Eiffel Tower. When we were all frozen to the bone, we warmed up inside and had breakfast. We then walked to the Arc di Triomph. The kids thought it was really cool to see in person since they have seen it in movies so many times.

Next up we went to the Musée de l’Orangerie. This was a smaller museum but a highlight for me. All the waterlily panels were incredible and you were able to get so close to them and see all the brush strokes. The museum wasn’t busy and took just the right amount of time. Our final stop before dinner was the Palais Garnier. Wow, the Opera house is so beautiful. The details and architecture are amazing. My daughter especially loved seeing where the ballet performs. It was well worth the visit.

Just as the sun went down, we made it to the top of Montmarte. The views of the city were spectacular. It was a wonderful way to finish our time in Paris.
