Chiang Mai, Thailand: Part One

After 30+ hours, we finally arrived in Chiang Mai, Thailand. It was a long journey but we were so excited to finally start our trip. Of course, it was shower time first. In Chiang Mai we stayed at the beautiful Le Meridien. This hotel was in the perfect location, right by the Night Market. Our room was amazing and we had a lovely view over the city and the mountains in the distance. We spent 5 nights at this hotel and everything was perfect.

We were in a whole different world and I was so excited to see as much as possible. Around every corner were temples and shrines. The bright colors, all the gold and the amazing detail was stunning.

This is Wat Chedi Luang. It was built in the late 14th century. After a few earthquakes, the top of the temple has collapsed some. I thought the elephants were the coolest aspect of this Buddhist temple. This is an old temple for sure and that makes it even more interesting to look at and explore. While visiting Wat Chedi Luang we were able to sit down and talk with a Monk for about 15 minutes. That was a highlight of our trip for sure!

Before eating we stopped and had $3 foot massages. Everyone really enjoyed it. For me, it was the most painful thing I have ever paid for. I was miserable. It hurt so bad. We took a tuk tuk to dinner since it started sprinkling and then we were in bed by 8pm.
